Ballet dancers teach JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts A welcoming handshake at check-in, how does that feel? A confident stride across the restaurant, to guide you to your table for dinner, how does that look? JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts have hired a ballet company to teach their staff how to get it right.

The ‘Poise & Grace’ staff training program helps hotel employees how to deliver luxury service in a gracious way, the way only ballet dancers can. The key items in the training program are in Warming Up, Proper Breathing, Flow of Movement and Connecting to the Audience.

Chicago’s renowned Joffrey Ballet prepared a video that hotel staff at JW Marriott’s 68 hotels in 26 countries must study. The exercises and gracious movements must be practiced several times a month and will also be performed during their 15-minute Daily Rehearsal at the beginning of every shift.

“One of the most important things of the luxury experience from a guest perspective is being able to demonstrate poise and grace as part of the service style,” says Mitzi Gaskins, VP/global brand manager of JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts on Skift.com.
